Paper Topic

I am planning on writing my paper on the characters of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. I think that the characters in the book could represent something else instead of just a character Lewis Corroll came up with for no particular reason. The characters that I will probably be writing about are: Alice, Queen of Hearts, the Hatter, Cheshire-Cat, and any others that i can find. The research question I think I need would be somewhere alond the lines of: What do the characters in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland symbolize.

The Alchemist

Trends that I am beginning to see in the story "The Alchemist" are that Santiago is to trusting and is too easily distracted. He trusts people before he really gets to know them and lets them into his life. Whenever he sets off to complete his future he gets distracted by another thing and starts to think about things he should do.

Burton's Characters

The big difference I saw was that it seemed that everyone knew Alice as if she was already there. The forest was dark and looked scary. Another thing that was different was that Alice beleived she was just dreaming and all she had to do is wake up. Also the mouseto be seemed to be jittery instead of sleepy.

The Mouse Meets Alice

I was walking one day when I slipped on some water and ended up in a sea of tears. As I was trying to find my way out of the sea this little girl came to me. As she came up to me she started to talk to me about her cat. This I did not like and began to swim away only to her this girl call me back and apologize. We began to talk once more but she kept speaking of her cat. This scared me because being a mouse we fear cats. Then she began talking about a dog which also scared me for dogs like to catch cats also. The little girl promised me she would not talk about her cat or dogs anymore and we swam out of the sea with all the other animals that had gotten trapped. Once we got out we tried to decide how to get dry. I tried to tell a story to make everone dry but the little girl seemed not to get dry at all, so we decided to have a caucus-race. After the race we all seemed to be dry and the animals wanted to hear another story. The little girl mentioned that I told her I would tell her about my life. As i begin to tell the story it seemed like she was not paying attention to me and when i asked her a question she replied with 'you have got to the fifth bend I think.' This angered me and I said I have not only to hear her talk about a not. After those remarks a left to hear the little girl and all the other animals call me back which only quickened my departure.

My Favorite Book

One book that I have read and would consider one of my favorites would be "Travel Team" by Mike Lupica. I read this book when I think I was an eigth grader. I like this book because it is a sports book and I love sports. This book is also an inspiration for kids who are told that they probably will not be able to live up to their own expectations or dreams. The book tells the story of a little boy who has the dreams of being a star in the NBA just like his father was going to be intill a drunken accident crippled his chances. The boy is told throughout the story that he is too short and is later cut from his travel team because of his height. Although everyone doubts the boy and his recovering alcoholic father, they create their own travel team to compete against all the others. This book is an inspiation for anyone who was told that they needed to dream a different dream or told that they would never make it. The books shows that with friendship, dedication, and heart that you can achieve your dreams.
